to recycle from the fashion cycle

A collection of materials that are reused designer would otherwise be discarded. Tiffany Tan reports. Refuse collection must wish there were more designers such as Lam Janko. Born in Hainan Province has created a fashion collection for Esprit, using materials that were left in a landfill. She made jeans, T-shirts, shorts, dresses, vests, skirts and jackets made of waste from private-label tissue and unused clothing. Lam denim pieces integrate patches in various shades of blue, while the T-shirts in pink, purple and gray are grainy - a result of a mix of colorful rags. The T-shirts were not voluntarily re-color, Spirit says to keep the production as environmentally friendly as possible. "Using waste material should be more discipline and creativity," Lam said by telephone from Hong Kong, where she went to design school and lived the last 16 years. "You need to follow the sustainable and experiences with many models." Luckily, she has had practice. Mutt Museum, the fashion label she co-founded in 2010, after working for a couple of suits from Hong Kong television station design that uses mostly recycled materials. His cheongsams be made from recycled material and waste their fashion accessories made from wood waste. The Creator, who is in his late 20s slumped, the Esprit project by winning last year's inaugural meeting Ecochic Design Award in Hong Kong. The competition, organized by the NGO, the repair mode, aims to inspire "fashion designers emerging Asia to mainstream fashion with minimal waste textiles to create." Hong Kong, where repair is based, a dump 234 tons textile waste to landfills every day, on average, according to 2010 figures from the city department of environmental protection. On the continent - the world's largest exporter of clothing - the producers of cotton clothes only 800,000 tonnes of textile waste per year. "And the number continues to rise," Gong Yan, associate professor at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, who studies the materials of the garment, said. Chinese textile factories, he said, undesirable substances in various ways, including sending to landfills, burning, burying. But these practices are not sustainable. "They limit the amount of recycling and waste of resources and produce pollution," Falun, a member of the All-China Federation Environment Research Committee on Standards for Environmental Protection, said. "As synthetic fibers break easily, the soil where they are to harden in the landfill. Same time, the harmful particles from textile waste into the soil and groundwater seepage. Burning, on the other hand, generates a lot of carbon dioxide and carbon powder, and on the environment. " The use of recycled materials or discarded as a response to the destruction of the environment is becoming more common in the fashion world. But designers like Lam are still rare in China. "As a rule, produce the rich, developed countries, most waste, and perhaps for this reason that this (trend) occurs more in them:" Timo Rissanen, assistant professor of fashion design and sustainability at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, told China Daily. This year, the repair of the design competition Ecochic made on the Chinese mainland. The winner, who will be appointed at the Shanghai Fashion Week in October, is also a collection for recycling spirit that wants to use its waste material. As Lam drawings, these designer pieces will be sold only in selected stores in the spirit land. For consumers that recycled clothing to protect not only eco-conscious, but also new and hygiene came to repair the certificate R (patent pending). "The demand for waste paper, which was clean and identify the" factory "is particularly important for Asian consumers who are aware of a whole tends to be stronger and more careful wearing second-hand products," said Christina Dean, the British founder and CEO of the repair, . She said that more retailers are keen to pursue certification, the consumer, where the clothes came and how they are green allowed. Such initiatives, but still agree within the margins of the world of fashion, for a healthier choice. "I think what we in terms of how sustainable is the creation of an alternative to do," Orsola de Castro, founder of the London label, sustainable fashion from somewhere, and a competition judge Ecochic said. "It's amazing to think that fashion is now cheap, fast fashion ... suddenly disappear and everything turns green. I think it is impossible to imagine. But also, we need to do is to make room for an alternative to . make "

Pravin Talan-My Inspiration

Almost ten years ago, I stood before the grandeur of the Taj Mahal for the first time I felt small and insignificant. In fact, lost.

And then in my youth I was in awe not only surprising but also the history behind its creation. This is a king had a beautiful final resting place for his beloved inspired me to build and operate the romance in my heart, in the poetry I wrote as freely as the river Yamuna was flowing on the banks of which, the Taj was so majestic.

After years of traveling to see and the world, I returned home, Taj, and going about this, what was its true meaning. Each stone, in silence, spoke from the heart of an emperor and the souls of artists, painted on each sculpture, carved in each entry.

He called me to capture the essence of the artisans in my own expression. "With Love From Taj" is the timelessness of the Taj, dedicated to the beauty of women, our valued traditions and artistic refinement.

I know that life is not enough to catch it ... Mood changes with the seasons and inspirations with each passing year.

Today I am feeling from the Taj and still a little ... But now, my soul feels timeless connection and I know I made a long and exciting journey.

This calendar is only the beginning.

The way commands Robert Pattinson really, we should Turns

There is nothing I love more than a man who knows fashion. Do you know a male guy who seems in place and, even better, feels amazing all the time. And exactly why, after checking in a recent interview with Robert Pattinson in GQ UK studly, my heart melts a little. Twilight mega-star told the magazine that he loves clothes, but he has a slight slope to Gucci.

"You really should have good contacts with Gucci ... I ask only things two days before" Can 25 costumes? I do not know what I want to wear! "

Ha! What a shock! I'll just go on a limb here and throw this out there: twenty-five Gucci suits on her finger and the? In two days? Could it be that Rob a bit of a fashion diva?

OK, I think everyone has some big name brands and they love it. For me it's all Michael Kors and Kate Spade. The brand that Robert Pattinson loves randomly over expensive and super-premium. But hell, man rushed to look great every time he walks on the red carpet ... even when he stripped to the waist ... and almost every second of every day. What a lucky guy.

Anyway, I bet we all wish we could send 25 of NOTHING we have on a whim. I can hardly imagine that someone show up at my door on a Friday night I was offered 25 different outfits to wear. I'm pretty sure that's what they call the sky.

Keep Rockin 'Rob, the Gucci brand. It's lookin 'goooooood.

New Kids on the Block Mode

There are some difficult decisions with regard to this year's crop of fashion graduates who showed their collections in the past year in the capital for the last month. While the balance between creativity and business has always been a fine in the strike, the shock decision to sell or even more important given the extent of unemployment and the current difficult climate for retail sale. "You have to find a job," said Rob Templeman, chairman of Graduate Fashion Week and The British Retail Consortium. "At the moment there are 1.5 million unemployed under the age of 24. Changing fashions, and you need to help younger people to move it." GFW after the event last year, sponsors the title George took in 68 new faces located both in design and marketing positions, including last year's gold price winner Rory Langdon, who has created a sold-out collection for the brand. "We recognize that tomorrow's talent is the cornerstone of our business," said Fiona Lambert, brand director of George, "and we need this talent young, fresh, because this is new, what is driving the company forward." George, along with seven other high street names including Karen Millen, New Look and House of Fraser, are also part of the GFW "protected" program, which will place the graduates into temporary - but paid - jobs, so they can strengthen their resumes and the chances of something more permanent. The winner of this year's gold award for female graduate of Bath Spa University, Chloe Jones impressed judges finished with silk maxi dresses sportified made with hoods and modern hubs, with delicate butterfly prints and raw seams. His collection is adjusted to be a line of High Street, sold by George later to make this year. It was the innovative use of fabrics and textiles in the light wool and futuristic Kingston University student Caitlin Jones splits, which featured Aztec-inspired stripes go-fast and hard in Gaines picked tubi son of high gloss metallic and iridescent. Both collections have a sense of directional wear resistance, combined with a complex structure with something more palatable ubiquitous. Meanwhile, the prize went to Zandra Rhodes textile innovation Huang Xiaoping at the University of Central Lancashire, pleated for his deckchair stripes and large three-dimensional accordion fashion. Although not traditionally commercial, there were aspects of the work of this young designer who has shown great potential for imagination take mass produced for women - something that the sponsors of the High Street are eager to invest in. But there is still more difficult to direction to take: While many college graduates choose to work for large retail chains and business conglomerates, there are those who want to do it yourself. And even if the ground is particularly inhospitable to small businesses just starting out and right now, tastes more of the A-list for the unknown - and more importantly, the copies are not - say that there are more opportunities than ever before cost for the graduates for success in this early stage of their career. "Anyone who wants to set up the own label, should consider whether it is really and truly the only thing they want to do," advises designer David Koma, who is also a judge at an event this year. It won both his BA and MA collection at Central Saint Martins, before shooting too fast when his reputation was on the metal-art-deco design of both Beyonce and Rihanna born in the same week. "It's very, very hard and the talent is just one of many elements that you need." But left for Claire Barrow, the University of Westminster in the last month, it becomes a reality. It has been his pieces - leather separates in a finely illustrated grunge, punk vein - in Vogue, has a capsule for Joseph, a range of brand shoes and subway will be at the London Fashion Week show in September designed. His classmate, Ashley Williams, whose ironic trash-luxury collection was from the women of the Texas oil and bags, such as jumpers and coats inspired revised, has been a host of famous friends (Alice Dellal, Pixie Geldof and Al) models his creations on his graduation show and has dressed pop star Rita Ora. In this era of Lady Gaga and direction divas are catchy and original designer graduates to gain too much exposure, if they choose this type of travel. "These students are very rare," says Director of Westminster Fashion Design Andrew Groves progress ", and most prefer to work in a design studio This is a difficult market -. More than 3,000 people with a degree in fashion related graduates, employers can thus select the best. "But what is essential is to have a great personality - the hours are very long in this industry, and it does not matter how good you are as a designer, people must be enjoying your company too." With a little spirit and warmth of the show, it seems, young London designers are a loose group: Central Saint Martins in particular (it is the work of his students for the first time in his new home in the King Cross) was the prevailing mood as a weapon in the arsenal against the labor market, this potentially dark designer lies ahead. Tigran Avetisyan male presented oversized shirts and blouses in graffiti-covered painting, the "so much pressure" and "to say nothing more" to read, with models from a soundtrack by Pink Floyd "We need no education". Less violent but equally character, Jin Ruoxin knitted pieces were wonderfully complex: heavy construction and bright colors, they also presented hundreds of warriors meticulously rendered figures knitted, clutching spears and shields, climbing into the sleeves, side dishes, even hats. And oversized hoop skirts Molly Goddard, crocheted doilies delicate and wispy layered neon pink tulle, with a certain cuteness permeability, a sort of explanation for the simple dress that suits your mood and introduced his talent to the texture and palette. Erin Hawkes, winner of the talent, opened the show with a loose collection of modern and rustic male parts. It is undermining this modern staples like plaid and hoodies, with nostalgia, almost puritanical, apron skirts, hoods and Flemish style. Royal College of Art, which has shown her collections of master's students, men's fashion is disrespectful and a wealth of ideas, such as pink flouncing treated nicely separates sports from Hiroaki Kanai and adaptation as geometric patterns, which bulged and deformed skillfully through the extrusion in print as a structure shown that by Ichiro Suzuki. Womenswear was a bit more pragmatic, but no less imaginative: made holographic and iridescent pieces by Holly Russell set the tone of glamor discreet, androgynous and accessible, with an eye on sales - it was simply a version of its friendly Topshop introduce high-waist jeans shining example. Rebecca Thomson printed silk shirt dresses and all-in-one were disguised practical and stylish, refused fur gloves and hats with fuzzy pompoms with his models wearing the head of the inherent nature of the commercial collection. Given the financial pressures on students these days, perhaps it is not surprising that graduate collections more and more professional feel every year. It was a lively and energetic projection on the part of young talent in the country - the future may be uncertain for them at the moment but it will definitely clear.

Gucci Resort 2013

Although there was a floral explosion, the Gucci Resort 2013 collection was a bit mismash pants and 70's old school of embroidery. But certainly not bad. Frida Giannini is a genius, no doubt, and when he came to her Resort 2013 collection looks were spontaneous, lively, and packed with color and design. Embroidery was over-the-top, and knew no bounds, while the figures were subtle and had a very modest atmosphere for them. A cream cotton dress pants with a basic high fold on the front in white and purple dress with a deep crouch and bell bottom pants. There was a look that was set for another time, but it is an era in fashion do for fun. When the eyes of a small collection FIRT are dribbled with paint, but are all black, although the line will be truncated is an exaggeration. All eyes quickly turned into a deep Potpouri chestnut, brown and silky brown and white printed silk blouses with ruffles. Frida Giannini has always been an expert in leveling her clothing line and in the evening on the bumps and blips with a splash of color with occasional pop Jewelry Set. The use of precious gems of the evening promises to really stood out as an ode to a simpler time, when the colored stones and metals were marred difficult to tinker and even harder to find. The long chains hanging bronze than compensates for the breast exposed, most eyes was a great way to hide the sex appeal of the public collection, but also add an element of culture and the day. After finding all the decorations in the stores today is often too bright and look incredibly fake. If a piece of rustic or damaged in any way she catches the eye of the beholder will immediately so that these parts do just fine if they do for the retail industry. The collection was beautiful, if not a little lost in translation. Parts had to tell one story, and worked side by side, but the premise of the collection seemed a little misunderstood, and seemed a little strange.

Katy Perry kisses At London Fashion Date Night With Robert Ackroyd

It looks like Katy Perry has the virus from the London fashion, as she left with her boyfriend rumor and Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd last night in a cream dress in fashion.

And they like a hippy standard is the cream of London patterned vintage dress with a black bow on the big oversized collar saw, was to have been selected from a retro-Store Brick Lane.

Katy looked every inch of London, even wearing flat black ballerinas with all half-length as the ladies of London, many choose to, if practical. She also had a dark face British correspondent, who we talk to unknowingly due to adverse weather.

The 27-year-old "and" singer took it to London vintage look to another level with her beehive hairdo and winged eyeliner Amy Winehouse. We love the new look, Katy!

Katy has made a mistake earlier in the week, as it has a gothic-inspired dress with a cross drawn in the face with a lump of powder makeup. But it looks like it finally is our style of fashion city nailed firmly to a t.

Hopefully they did all these changes in style for his constant movement across the pond! Top marks.

Fashion Summer: sunny living room, stylish with little money

Vancouver-based Jeniene Mercer, 50, received a floral scarf as a gift from her husband, Frank, in 1993. This year, shows it look updated as part of their summer.

"It reminds me of the print Dolce & Gabbana online summer," said Alexandra FASILIS, personal stylist and owner of Mercer Alexandra Sophia Design in Vancouver.

The vintage-style print with coral roses with purple stems and green leaves steamed offset represents one of the hottest trends of the summer and will cost nothing Mercer. And that's the point, said FASILIS. With a few smart strategies, you should update the look of the summer does not cost much. This can include everything from working with what is already in her closet of old clothes swapping for something "new" car in a store. You can use the personal stylist of these five steps to the scorching summer fashion on a budget skip:

• Sift through the closet for items that meet the trends of today.

Experts recommend that the Cabinet and to identify what is already for the summer, before traveling on business or online shopping. Flip through a fashion magazine or do an internet search under "fashion summer" to view photos of what's hot to see this summer.

Bright colors like coral and turquoise, and models, including peas, animal prints, floral, geometric and tribal - a vibrant color palette for this summer.

Pencil skirts, long skirts and other semi-Pants and shorts are cuffed summer staples this year.

Next, examine the existing features for clothing, to illustrate the current trends. When in doubt, consult the experts. Even

Attle YouLookFab.com leave bloggers and fashion consultant Angie Cox provides a global online community where people can post pictures of themselves and their clothes and seek input from Cox or about 250,000 visitors per month online community. There are no membership fees.

• Try new combinations.

In the spirit of frugality after the recession is going almost every game. Contrast colors and the mixing model, ex-no-no, are now in vogue, said Cox. This offers new opportunities for adaptation and separates the creation of a new perspective on what is already in the closet.

"The economic downturn can be helped to make the pattern-mixing trend," said Cox. "How many additional outfits, you can create when you are ready to mix your samples separates into a single device thinking. Mixture model (decrease) in cost per wear of the element."

An example of the trend is recently on the walls of Plato's Closet Boutique Vancouver displayed item. A mannequin was dressed in a mini-southwest print with a geometric print tank. A rule of thumb is to put the pieces together, fasten with a dominant color. In this case, it was bright pink. On his pink wardrobe staff Plato added a bright fringe purse with a long pink strap and a belt-Southwest flair.

"You can with what you have to work," said Mary Foster, deputy director at Plato's Closet "You could even take in a position, your favorite shirt with your favorite logo skirt." - Even if they are in different colors or patterns are different.

• Reuse.

Maxi skirts, long skirts that go down to the ankle, had a rare appearance this year. You are now leaving, replaced known in the mid-length skirts for lunch. Slightly shorter mean a new rock is not necessary. Some basic sewing skills can easily lead to a maxi skirt a clock noon. Hem the skirt just below the kneecap. Another simple sewing project, cuffed pants or shorts is adding existing FASILIS said.

• Identify gaps in closet.

After a complete wardrobe inventory and is exploring new combinations, it's time to decide to combine some existing clothes to buy.

Make a list of needs and desires.

If you have money for an article that suggested an accessory Cox.

"An accessory is a great way to change your look without spending to much money," said Cox.

Mercer is a scarf as an example. FASILIS paired with a scarf Mercer blue blouse and black pencil skirt.

A scarf can make an impression in the fashion or color, change the appearance of several outfits and supplies heat to cool mornings and evenings, said FASILIS.

The climate of the Pacific Northwest is a factor to consider when identifying a list of items to buy. Skimpy summer clothes to be strapless or not separates the best investment, said Cox.

Instead, choose clothing that can copy.

Some examples are a light coat color, which can be worn under a sweater or a pair of pants in the fall, which can be worn all year, Cox said.

• Store.

When it's time to buy, starting with the cheapest options. One of those can be swapped clothes with a friend, or send existing clothing and using credit to buy the "new" items in a consignment store like Plato's Closet.

Theresa Curran, 48, a saleswoman coffee service from Boring, Oregon, she said all the elements of her wardrobe this season and shares that are outdated, not working for them or that they missed sighted. One way to update, it is their look without spending much money to sell unwanted clothes at Plato's closet and use the money to buy items to update their wardrobe. (The Vancouver store is on its sales territory). She said she will often cost clothing for under $ 10, that it more than a department store.

"Once I have a couple of Nike running shoes for $ 12 found," she said.

Fashion experts recommend starting with classical elements, which extend over several seasons or be modified slightly trying. When a trend is tempting to choose a piece on the nature of a low-cost business such as Forever 21, said FASILIS. Buy the look for less, because they can not last the entire season, she said.

mode Amazon: Give the lady what she wants - Part 4 of 4

Over the last three weeks I wrote about the planned entry of Amazon into the fashion industry. Last week, I concluded that the offer of exclusive ranges of channel retailing is the key to victory in the picture on Amazon. This would help those who love shopping at Nordstrom find clothing lines that they love, and loyalty will remain with Nordstrom. Same with other retailers such as Macy's, Saks, Neiman Marcus, and even Amazon. If a trademark has the right products for each channel, would be the number of products that sell at full price, due to its higher, so a win for businesses and brands.

Famous quote by Marshall Field, "Give the lady what she wants," is still true today. But as retailers and brands to really know what the lady or the gentleman, really? Course assortments rights for years, but has often without good data on customer preferences offered by each dealer. Manufacturer's recommendations to retailers, marketers and use their experience and intuition to product selection to be made. The result is that 50% of the introduction of new products fail (according to MIT Sloan Management Review).

Retailers who Analytics uses in making decisions often based on historical data. The challenge is that this "lady" was the last season or last year may not representative of what they want to buy next season. In short, the information is outdated.

But there are ways in which retailers and brands can work together to determine the specific products that resonate with each set of consumers, in advance of the introduction of new products. The key is to engage consumers with new technologies that make it possible to know to trade with them in real time what they want to make access. And the good news is that consumers want to participate!

Take for example the distribution of Brazilian fashion C & A, which has been testing recently, a new type of interactive social media with its "Fashion Like" program. In their stores, C & A has specialized hangers that contain digital meters installed. C & A customers can now view new clothing retailer's Facebook page. Whenever someone "like" something on Facebook, a digital counter on the steps of suspending that element in all its branches. C & A finds out what its customers want and people watch in real time what is popular.
Another example is New Zealand Fashion Festival (New Zealand version of Fashion Week in New York City), took place in March this year. The Fashion Festival has used a combination of Pinterest to Facebook and Twitter engagement with consumers on fashion products that drive has not yet been published. More than a million fans, "friends" were involved online with New Zealand Fashion Festival, a 70% increase in exposure at the previous event. I am sure that you are interested in the implementation of such numbers! Who would not?

It is clear that consumers engage with brands and retailers want. So how do you take this post - consumer rights - and makes sense to make a more accurate selection?

Amazon uses the data analysis for its customers better than anyone else to understand. The company has a huge database containing the history of browsing and shopping at millions of consumers across several product categories. How can you have the experience, the platform of Amazon in the position to make clear recommendations is strange to other products you can buy to generate. But what Amazon does not know consumer preferences are specific to each retailer, brand, and especially before they pull the trigger on the purchase.

Use of consumer engagement tools and predictive modeling can, retailers and brands work together to filter per channel, and consumer preferences for the brand / product to identify each set of customers. Retailers usually huge databases of their most loyal customers. In presenting the customer with the brand, which only started yet and product options via online methods, both of which can be connected to the dealer and the manufacturer to determine what they want customers, and in planning before major expenses are the production and transportation incurred. By tapping into the "wisdom of crowds" can retailers and brand managers to reduce the guesswork and develop exclusive product lines from which they will know with the buyers of the individual channels to oscillate. Brands can use Amazon in the same way to work and develop product ranges for this exclusive online marketplace.

With this approach, in order to keep the brands and retailers' margins to keep the distinction straight. Amazon will be able in any case a certain amount of fashion stores, but brands control the product categories in which it occurs.

Ultimately, the lady will get what she wants, and the winners are those who really want to what they hear before they have released their credit card. The losers are those who stayed on to explain why their composition and margins are gone.

A former mine manager in the retail sector used to say:

"There's always the weather, trucks, too late, wrong deliveries and any other reasons, but if you do it right (ie the right product for the customer to the right), you're a genius."

I wonder how many there are. Are you one of them?

Chanel, Coty, Avon Join Sustainable Packaging Cosmetics Roundtable

Major cosmetics companies Chanel, Coty, Avon, L’Oreal Group, Mast Global and Estee Lauder are inaugural members of an initiative created by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ Institute for Sustainability that aims to find ways to work with suppliers, retailers and customers to advance sustainable packaging.

The Sustainable Packaging Roundtable, which kicked off last month, will be chaired by John Delfausse, Estée Lauder’s vice president of packaging, GreenerPackaging reported.  The roundtable also plans to address how to drive and measure progress in sustainability.

Cosmetics companies are becoming more aware of the importance of sustainable packaging within their corporate social responsibility initiatives, Delfausse said. Companies involved with the roundtable agree packaging must emphasize the design, reuse and recover model rather than the traditional reduce, reuse and recycle approach, Delfausse said.

The Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, held in New York in May, highlighted some of the issues the roundtable plans to address, specifically the need to increase adoption rates of sustainable packaging and improve measurement techniques for the environmental impact of products. Several speakers at the summit noted that although companies are conducting life cycle analysis of their products, varying methodology, lack of standardized data and the challenge of evaluating cosmetic formulations can prevent accurate measurement,  CosmeticsBusiness reported.

The summit held a sustainable packaging session, which examined environmentally friendly packaging options. The summit also held two interactive workshops on sustainable packaging solutions and paraben-free cosmetic formulation.

The roundtable has identified material sourcing, manufacturing practices and product stewardship as critical elements to achieving its ultimate goal to promote economic and environmental health through supply chain collaboration.

Earlier this month, Estee Lauder was among several major brand names that agreed to adopt the How2Recycle Label, a voluntary recycling label developed by GreenBlue’s Sustainable Packaging Coalition. The How2Recycle Label, which is based on the UK’s On-Pack Recycling Label, aims to reduce consumer confusion in the US.

Falling, luxury tax cut may boost monsoon tourism in Goa

PANAJI: While most people are affected by the sliding value of the rupee, which has even caused a steep hike in petrol prices, not everyone is complaining about the currency losing its sheen.

The tourism sector in the state is buoyant about the situation since Goa is set to witness a rise in the number of tourists visiting the state as many Indians have cancelled their plans of holidaying abroad due to the fall in the value of the rupee.

Travel operators STOI spoke to, claim that inquiries for packages to Goa have increased and June is expected to see a huge influx of tourists.

Nilesh Shah of Raj Travels told STOI, "Tourists who were to travel to the far east and other cheaper foreign destinations will change their plans due to the rising dollar," while adding that high-end tourists who had already made foreign holiday plans, may not change them.

He felt Goa is a good monsoon tourism destination as the pricing was competitive. Shah said Goa would now attract more people looking to hold their conferences, seminars and meetings. He also felt Goa was a preferred destination for short packages. "Hotels have a good occupancy and 70-75% of the rooms in hotels are occupied," Shah said.

Harpal Singh of Minar Travels was also of the view that "the rising value of the dollar has forced everyone to rethink their travel plans".

Ralph De Souza, spokesperson of Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), was also of the view that Goa would attract more domestic tourists not just due to the fall in the value of the rupee, but also as the state government had cut the luxury tax for the off-season in the budget.

"Foreign travel will reduce," he told STOI, with regard to the rise in the value of the dollar.

"Many tourists who would have to pay in dollars for hotels, rooms, and transport at a foreign destination will prefer to come to Goa," he said.

De Souza also noted that since the air turbine fuel was cheaper in Goa, more airlines preferred to fly to Goa which resulted in more seats to Goa and cheaper fares. "With all these factors, the cost of packages can rationalize. We're hopeful that this will also result in an increase in the number of tourists coming to Goa," said De Souza.

He estimated that the increase would be in the region of 5%. Besides, it will also salvage the estimated 10% fall in tourists coming to the state due to certain central budget measures.

Swapnil Naik, director of tourism, told STOI, "We feel that this time there will be an increase in tourists coming to Goa. We observed a growing trend towards monsoon tourism in the state and occupancy had gone up by 60-65% during the monsoon season last year."

"Even now, hotel occupancy is almost 100% and this will continue for the next two weeks," he added.

Goa hosted 27 lakh tourists in the recently concluded tourism season.
